Q: What materials are used in RIFLESPEED Gas Controls?
A: We use a combination of materials including 4140 Chromoly Vanadium, A286 Stainless Steel, 17-4 Stainless Steel, 17-7 Stainless Steel, and 6061 T6 Aluminum. All materials are selected as no-compromise choices based on the performance needs of a rugged and military grade component while keeping component weight in mind.
Q: What cartridges do RIFLESPEED Gas Controls work with?
A: Any centerfire rifle cartridge for which the AR15 or AR10 is chambered will benefit from the use of a RIFLESPEED Gas Control. We fired a number of cartridges during the extensive development and validation process used to bring RIFLESPEED Gas Controls to the market. Cartridges tested include: 5.56x45mm NATO, .223 Remington, 300 AAC Blackout, 6.8 Remington SPC, .308 Winchester, .260 Remington, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 7.62x39mm. If you use your RIFLESPEED Gas Control on a cartridge not listed here, we’d love to hear about your results.
Q: Does my handguard have to be shorter than my carbine's gas system in order to use a RIFLESPEED Gas Control?
A: Definitely not. We've designed RIFLESPEED Gas Controls in several different lengths to allow the use of extended handguards with every gas system.
Q: Why do I need a RIFLESPEED Gas Control if I don’t use a suppressor?
A: There is no such thing as one ideal gas
port size that delivers ideal performance in every set of conditions and with
every different type of ammunition. If you shoot in varying temperatures, if
you shoot different types of ammunition, if your carbine ever gets dirty, or if
you want to make your carbine smoother shooting with less recoil, then you need
a RIFLESPEED Gas Control.
Q: Can the gas adjustment be configured to include a full off setting?
A: Riflespeed Gas Controls are fully modular and can be set up to provide full restriction (non-cycling/off) or complete function with any cartridge or configuration. We offer many Plunger options to accomplish the configuration you wish to use. Each Gas Control comes with two different size Plungers that cover a wide range of performance for most popular cartridges.
Q: I have a carbine with an A-Frame style sight base like the military uses. Will the RIFLESPEED Gas Control work on my carbine?
A: Yes. Removal of your front sight base can be accomplished by the experienced enthusiast, but we strongly recommend the services of a gunsmith or qualified armorer.
Q: Will a RIFLESPEED Gas Control hide the marks left by my A-Frame style front sight base?
A: Yes. All sizes of RIFLESPEED Gas Controls will cover this area completely.
Q: What size Plunger should I use?
A:
Select the plunger that allows you
to use the lower 1/3 to middle portion of Rotation Range One if possible. This
allows you to increase gas flow as temperatures cool or your weapon becomes
heavily fouled. The Plunger that comes assembled in your Gas Control has been
found to be the best choice for general-purpose use with most AR15 cartridges in
most configurations. If your unsuppressed setting is above 1-10, use a shorter Plunger. Plungers are available in 0.010" increments. This correlates to a difference of two settings on your Control Knob.
Q: Where are RIFLESPEED Gas Controls made?
A: All RIFLESPEED products are proudly made in the USA!
Q: Do you offer a discount to First Responders and Military?
A: Yes. See the “Service Discounts” link at the top of our homepage.
Q: Will a RIFLESPEED Gas Control fit my AR pistol, firearm, carbine or rifle?
A: RIFLESPEED Gas Controls are offered in several different lengths for barrels with a 0.750” diameter front sight base journal. Refer to the “Configurator” at the “Choose Your Gas Control” link at the top of our homepage or download the “Common Configurations and Settings” chart found on the same page to find the right model for your configuration.
Q: Will a RIFLESPEED Gas Control give my carbine more gas so that it works reliably with weak ammo?
A: No. To ensure reliable function with weak ammo (or in cold conditions) you’ll need to have the gas port in your barrel enlarged. Once you do this, you’ll definitely want to install a RIFLESPEED Gas Control so you can adjust the gas delivered to your carbine’s action for ideal performance with any type of ammo.
